Halloween: Spooky Branches

I wanted to do a Halloween mani that wasn't the usual skulls, ghosts and spiders and that was a bit more pretty looking. So here it is :)

To start I applied a base coat. Then on my thumb and ring finger I painted 3 coats of Barry M Fashion Icon (this is from the new Glitterati collection, all of which I bought the other day!). On my index, middle and little finger I painted 1 coat of China Glaze White on White, I only painted 1 coat as I will be doing a gradient over it.

For the gradient I used W7 Black and China Glaze Grape Pop and Spontaneous. I applied this with a small make-up sponge and then cleaned up around the edges using a cotton bud dipped on nail polish remover.

For the stamping I used MoYou Mother Nature Collection 01 and Konad Black. The tree on the stamping plate looks quite spooky to me, so I decided to stamp the branches from it.

To finish I applied a top coat of Seche Vite. On the stamped nails I was going to paint over China Glaze Matte Magic, but it has gone really gloopy :( so will need to get another one!

Also I thought I would share a couple of my recent purchases!

This is the Barry M Glitterati Collection, one of which I used in this mani. I saw them and just had to get them! I got them from Superdrug who at the moment have an offer of 3 for 2 on all cosmetics :)

And just before I started on this mani this came in the post, great timing Mr Postman! It is a Swarovski crystal glass nail file from Mont Bleu. I had never used a glass nail file before and this one is just amazing to use, and sooo pretty!

Chevrons and New Nail Shape

Decided to try a new nail shape so I went for Almond/Stiletto. Think it's going to take me a while to get used to, but I do like them :)
And obviously chevrons are just amazing!

Firstly on I applied a base coat on all my nails. On my thumb and middle fingers I applied 2 coats of China Glaze White on White. On my index and little finger I applied 2 coats of China Glaze Puur-fect Plum. And on my ring finger I applied 1 coat of W7 Black.

On top of the black on my ring finger I applied 2 coats of Rimmel Diamond Dust.

On the white on my thumb and middle finger I then applied nail stickers and painted W7 Black before removing the stickers. I made these chevron stickers using some insulation tape and patterned scissors.

I applied a top coat of Seche Vite and that is the mani finished :)

31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 30 - Inspired by a Tutorial (ChristabellNails - Kiwifruit Nail Art Tutorial)

This mani is inspired by this ChristabellNails tutorial for Kiwifruit nail art. I saw this come up on my YouTube feed the other day and loved it, so I knew I had to do it for this challenge!

Firstly I applied my base coat. Then at the base of the nail I painted 1 coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Jade Jump. Then I painted 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri In Record Lime so that it overlapped the previous colour and left a small amount of space from the cuticle.

I then used a thin nail art brush along with the lighter green and painted some lines down the nail making sure not to reach the very tip of the nail. Once this was dry I used a dotting tool along with W7 Black and created some dots. Trying to stay mainly on the dark green area but also putting a few dots just touching on the light green area.

I applied a top coat of Seche Vite and the mani is finished. Love how simple and effective this mani is. Check out ChristabellNails YouTube channel for more lovely nail art tutorials.

31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 29 - Inspired by The Supernatural

Ok so I know spiders aren't exactly supernatural... But the size of the spiders coming in the house lately makes them supernatural enough in my book!
Also I just wanted to try doing a spider-web, so we could pretend it's a spider from Hogwarts :)

To start I painted on a base coat, I use Barry M all in one basecoat topcoat and nail hardener. I then painted 2 coats of W7 Black on my thumb, index, middle and little finger. On my ring finger I painted 2 coats of China Glaze White on White.

To create the spider-web I used the Barry M white nail art pen, by the way I am so glad I bought this so if you haven't got one then you should!
I started by drawing lines from one corner and spreading out right to the edge of the nail. Then I added the little curved lines in-between.

For the spider I stamped the spider from Bundle Monster plate BM13 using Konad black special polish. I then used a black sharpie, also very glad I bought this, and added a line from the spider to the edge of my nail to give the look that it is dangling from a web. Then as I did create it a little thick I used the Barry M pen just to make it a bit thinner.

And to finish the mani I painted a top coat of Seche Vite.

31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

These nails were inspired by a dress I have that has a tartan pattern with a black peter pan collar. Love the dress and the nails :)

I firstly painted my nails with a base coat. On my thumb, middle and ring finger I painted OPI's Quarter of a Cent-Cherry. On my index and little finger I painted W7's Black.

On the nails painted with the red I then stamped the pattern shown from MoYou's Pro Collection plate 01 using Konad's black special polish.

I then painted a coat of Seche Vite and that is the mani finished. Simple and pretty :)
