31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 11 - Polka Dots

On to day 11 of the challenge and time for polka dots. Really love this mani and love polka dot manis anyway so this was quite easy :)

First I applied my usual base coat, I used Barry M's base coat, top coat and nail hardener. Then on my thumb, index, middle and little fingers I applied 2 coats of W7's White. On my ring finger I painted 2 coats of Barry M's Majesty texture polish.

On the white painted nails I used Cheeky's plate CH6 and Konad's Black to stamp the polka dots.

After the stamping I used tape on my index and ring finger to cover half of the nail. I then painted a thick coat of China Glaze's For Audrey and peeled off the tape. I then used a dotting tool to go over some of the dots with Barry M's Majesty and China Glaze's For Audrey. Then on the index and middle finger where the line was I used the dotting tool to go along with Barry M's Majesty.

I painted the Seche Vite top coat over my thumb, index, middle and little finger and that is the mani finished :)
I really love how this turned out, I am glad I didn't just leave the polka dots all black as I think it looks a lot better adding some colour to them.

31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 10 - Gradient

I have wanted to do one of these silhouette manis for a while now, so have done it for the gradient day of the challenge :)

As I always do before making a gradient I painted a coat of W7's White polish on top of my base coat.

For this gradient I wanted to create a sunset look. So from left to right the colours I used were China Glaze's Heli-Yum, China Glaze's Life Preserver and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Man-go Team! I sponged the colours on with the pink being at the cuticle of my nail and the yellow being at the tip.

For the stamping I used Konad's Black and MoYou's Mother Nature Collection plate 08. I used the grass in the right bottom corner and put this on the tip of every nail. On my thumb I stamped the smaller giraffe and a couple of the birds. On my index finger I stamped a tree and I then stamped the remainder of the tree onto my middle finger. Also on my middle finger I stamped half of the lion and then stamped the rest of the lion on my ring finger. On my little finger I just stamped some more of the birds.

I then applied Seche Vite's top coat and that is the mani finished. Love how these have turned out! Will definitely do these kind of mani's more often now.

31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 9 - Rainbow

I have wanted to do these rainbow waterfall nails for a while now so was happy that one of the challenges was rainbow :)

First I applied a base coat and then I painted 2 coats of W7's White.

To do the waterfall art you basically just keep painting lines with different colours. I started by painting about 3 lines of the first colour using a thin nail art brush, then I moved on to the next colour and put it right next to the first colour. Then you keep doing the same thing by putting the next colour right next to the last colour.
For my thumb nail I have used from left to right China Glaze's First Mate, Hanging in the Balance and Electric Beat, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Teal-y Fast.

For my index finger I used from left to right China Glaze's Heli-Yum and Fifth Avenue, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Presto Pink and Quick Brick.

For my middle finger I used China Glaze's Starboard, Westside Warrior and Def Defying, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Emerald Express.

For my ring finger I used China Glaze's Urban Night and Spontaneous, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Lively Lilac and Instant Iris.

For my little finger I used China Glaze's Life Preserver, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's Man-go Team!, Lightening and In a Flash.

I waited for them to dry and then applied Seche Vite's top coat.

Really happy with how these turned out. Some of the lines aren't really neat but once the whole mani is done it doesn't matter that some of them aren't super straight.

31 Day Challenge 2014: Day 8 - Metallic

So day 8 is metallic. I wasn't really sure what to do for this, but I had recently bought some electrical insulation tape so that I could use the patterned scissors I have for nail art. So here it is...

Firstly I applied a base coat. Then on my thumb, middle and ring finger I painted 2 coats of Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri in Peachy Breeze. On my index and little finger I painted 2 coats of OPI's Liquid Sand in Honey Ryder.

I ordered some electrical pvc insulation tape from Amazon to create my own vinyl stickers. I had looked online for vinyl stickers and they were so expensive. So I was looking on YouTube and saw a couple vidoes where people had got this tape so I got some! The tape I got was only £1.57 for a 19mm x 33m roll, and the listing I linked to is for black tape, but it can be bought in many other colours.
I used these zig zag scissors from a caddy set I got from Yellow Moon to create little chevron stickers. I then stuck them to a plastic wallet so that they will stay there for the next time I want to use any, and so that they aren't difficult to remove.

I then stuck these stickers to my nail as shown and painted over with Barry M's Gold Foil.

Once this was dry I applied a top coat of Seche Vite to the thumb, middle and ring finger. And that is the finished mani :)

Although I wasn't entirely sure what to do for metallic nails I think this has turned out quite well!
